New Here?
Be you a visitor, enquirer or new to the area, you are always welcome!
Discovering a new parish is a daunting process, just like finding a new home! Maybe you are visiting this section because you are interested in Catholicism? Or perhaps you are moving/have moved into the area? Are you looking for a church to visit while on holiday? Even more nerve wracking is the prospect of returning to Church after a period of time away. Whatever your reason for coming here, you can expect with us a warm welcome.
As a first introduction to our communities say ‘hello’ to our parish priest, Fr. Edmund Neizer. Why not make yourself known to him after Mass on Sunday? He will be happy to welcome you to our parish and point you in the right direction with any questions you may have. If you cannot reach Fr. Edmund please contact our Parish Secretaries; Margaret Buckley (Maesteg) or Bernadette Lewis (Aberkenfig).
Fr. Edmund Neizer, a Priest from the Archdiocese of Accra, Ghana, ministering in the Archdiocese of Cardiff since 2009. Fr. Edmund was appointed our Parish Priest in September 2017 having served the parishes of Tredegar, Rhymney and Ebbw Vale from 2013 to 2017. Prior to this he was Parish Priest of Llantwit Major and Cowbridge from 2012 to 2013.
Thinking of becoming a Catholic? Don’t know how? Each year thousands of adults make the decision to join the Catholic Church. They come from a lot of different backgrounds, some faith based, some not. Anyone can become a Catholic, they follow a process called the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA).
RCIA preparation usually begins in the early autumn with weekly meetings take place to prepare the candidates for baptism or reception into the Catholic Church at Easter. You may be nervous, but listen to the invitation of Jesus who says “Do not be afraid”. The RCIA programme often proves to be a good opportunity to make some new friends.
Whatever your background, whatever has brought you to this stage in life, give thanks for this moment, embrace your past and live for the present. If you wish to find out more about becoming a Catholic or wish to register for RCIA please contact the parish office.
Between both our communities there are a wide arrange of opportunities to be involved in the life of our parishes. We are always on the lookout for more volunteers! To find out more about what goes on in each parish visit the Parish Directory.
We are preparing to undertake a fresh census of people who come to our churches. If you are new and would like to register with the parish, please contact the parish office. Once the census is complete a form will be available online for registration.
We love to hear from visitors and established parishioners. If you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions:
