The Sacraments
The Celebration of the Christian Mystery
The Sacraments are the way we focus and celebrate our life together in the Church, and grow into the Body of Christ. They are actions of Christ in which he touches our lives at important moments, and in the ordinary routine of life together. They heal us from sin and plant, nourish or restore the life of grace in us.
The Seven Sacraments touch all the stages and all the important moments of Christian life: they give birth and increase, healing and mission to the Christian’s life of Faith. There is thus a certain resemblance between the stages of natural life and the stages of the spiritual life.
Reconciliation and Communion are the sacraments of daily family life, and celebrated at regular times which you can find on the Parish Newsletter & on the homepage.
Baptism and Confirmation are sacraments of Conversion, the Way into Life in the body of Christ, in the power of the Holy Spirit. So they can only ever be celebrated once, after serious preparation.
Marriage and Ordination mark us out for particular roles in the family of the Church, so always a big occasion, for most people only ever celebrated once.
Sacrament of the Sick takes place at times of need, whenever there is a serious change in their condition.
