World Meeting of Families June 21st -26th
I just wanted to remind you of the World Meeting of Families taking place next week, 22nd-26th. This event is being delivered in a different way to previous meetings to enable many more families across the globe to participate. Please highlight this event in your newsletters and encourage people to visit the website; there they can also download the App which will enable them to explore and participate more actively.
Though the WMOF itself is next week, things can go on into the summer, the important, or rather the intention, is that parishes try to focus on and celebrate families in some way.
An easy do for next week is the prayer box (with Prayer box sheet)… put a box on the altar during the WMOF and invite people to complete the intention sheet (WMOF English prayer card), they get to keep the official WMOF Prayer to say at home, and ‘post’ there intentions into the box; these intentions will then be remembered during all Masses during the WMOF or beyond if you wish.
If you carry on the theme of celebrating families through into July, it could culminate in celebrating the Second World Day of prayer for Grandparents and the Elderly, July 24th… all this also ties in well with the theme of the CBCEW’s Day for Life this Sunday, June 19th…also Father’s Day!
‘Day for Life’ is the day in our calendar set aside to celebrate life from conception to natural death. This year our focus in on caring for and valuing the elderly. https://www.cbcew.org.uk/dfl22/
You will find an email below from Claire Fernandes, CELEBRATE Children and Family Lead, containing WMOF resources from Celebrate.
There is also the School Assemblies ‘Celebrating Family Love’, produced here in our Archdiocese, which can be accessed by families, schools and parishes to be used in anyway they wish… perhaps as part of children’s liturgy. http://www.catholiceducation.org.uk/
If you would like any more prayer cards, other than those I gave you at the Chrism Mass, or posted onto you if I missed you, please let me know by Thursday this week and I’ll post some out to you.
Whatever you do, large or small, please do let me know and use the hash tag #RomeAtHome when sharing anything on Social Media.
